Lillium was a passion project developed under Ebonova. While unforeseen circumstances led to its cancellation, we still wanted to share what we created with you.

Lillium Post-Mortem: Reflections as Executive Producer

Even though Lilium never saw its full release, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on my experience as Executive Producer and share some of the lessons I learned.

Working on Lilium was one of the most exciting and rewarding things I’ve done in my career so far. This was the first time I really stepped into the role I’ve always envisioned for myself in the industry: leading a team, setting the vision, and making sure people had what they needed to succeed. What I discovered is that producing a game is less about the product itself and more about the people. My responsibility was making sure our team was supported. This included ensuring they had the right tools, meeting their needs, and handling compensation. In many ways, my role was less “game manager” and more “team manager,”. I also learned just how expensive this work really is. Assets, licenses, accounts, marketing, logos, etc. Every step had a cost. I ended up spending well over a thousand dollars of my own hard-earned money to keep Lilium alive, and while the project didn’t make it to the finish line, I don’t regret the investment. It taught me the real-world weight of game production and the financial sacrifices behind every indie release.

Despite the challenges and eventual cancellation, I LOVED being under that kind of pressure.it was the kind of stress that fuels me, because this is exactly where I want to be. Producing is hard, but it’s also deeply fulfilling knowing that you are capable of getting things done.

This isn’t the end of the road for our studio. We’re continuing to push forward, and I’m excited about what we’ll be able to share in the future when the time is right.

Thanks to everyone who supported this journey. This project taught me so much about leadership, resilience, and the reality of building games, and I’m more motivated than ever to keep going.
